Patio Cover Posts and Header Beams…

The patio kit comes with 3″x3″ square aluminum with two 2X6 1/2 side plates that attached to the front and rear of the 3X3 post; thus, giving the post a 6 ½ X6 ½ appearance. The post side plates include foam inserts typically used to resist denting. The header beam attachment method may vary, depending on the type of header beam configuration. For example, if a 3X8 single header beam is installed, a 3X3 top bracket is secured on the bottom of the header beam…then slid into the top of the post. The side plates will extend to the roof top.…for a double header beams they will sandwich the 3X3 post from front to rear and attached with bolts or sheet metal screws. The side plates will extend to the bottom of the double header beams. Of course, if you have questions, you Contact us for guidance.

Please Note:To attach the double header beams and any side plates you will need a 5/8 Diablo bit or whole saw bit to drill holes in the beams and side plates to attach with screws. You will use a 5/8 button plug to conceal the visible holes after header beams and side plates are installed. If you want a perfectly 4 button pattern on the top of the side plates you can find a side plate jig available on the accessories page.
