A non-insulated patio cover also known as “Flat Pan”… is a type of outdoor shade structure that does not have an added layer of insulation, meaning it primarily provides shade from the sun and rain without actively regulating the temperature underneath, unlike an insulated patio cover which can keep the area cooler in hot weather and warmer in cold weather;non-insulated covers are usually more affordable and simpler in design, offering a wider range of aesthetic options.
No insulation layer:Unlike insulated covers, they lack a foam or similar material designed to trap heat.
Cost-effective:Generally cheaper than insulated options due to the simpler construction.
Variety in design:Can come in various styles like lattice, pergola, or open designs, allowing for more aesthetic flexibility.
Less temperature control:May not significantly reduce heat on hot days or add warmth during cold weather.
Common materials:Often made from aluminum, wood, or vinyl without additional insulation.
The Basic Kit Includes:
Non-Insulated roof panel also known as “Flat Pan” are 6” inches wide and 2.5” inches tall and are assembled in like a tongue and grove like application. They come in 3 thicknesses, .018, .024, and 0.32 The non insulated roof system is the most economical product form a cost standpoint. However, there are some drawbacks you should be aware of before you make the decision about which type of roof system. The solid non-insulated roof panel will provide shad and shelter from the rain however because it is not insulated the heat from the sun hitting the roof top throughout the day transfers through the roof system causing heat to come through the roof top.
The most economical material.Less expensive than the insulated roof Very light in weight.
Can’t stand on roof top.Roof appearance from above.Roof top heat radiation transfers.Increased noise caused by rain or hail.Roof pans may need occasional cleaning from debris collection.
The non insulated fan beam is 2”X 2” inch square extruded aluminum tube positioned on top of the roof panel, attached to the rolled form ledger on the house, and extending the header beam. A fan beam cover cap is added over the fan beam and roof panel. This combination provide support for the fan and protects the fan and electrical components from the elements and prevents water intrusion. For led lighting, only the fan beam covers are used to protect the wiring from the elements and water intrusion. If your project includes fans and/or lights, you will want to order your kit with fan beams covers accordingly.
